Clutch choices
Hi all,
Your opinion please, I'm building a zetec se 1600 turbo engine, not finished but end product is going to be around 250lbft + or torque
Option 1
STD fly ap HD clutch cover and 4 paddle cerametallic plate rated to 230 lbft
Option 2
7.25 fly with ap lug steel over with sintered solid drive plate rated to 313 lbft
Option 3
Find another option!
I'm unsure how they rate the torque, my weights less than a normal road car so will that be easier on clutches?

NO RIGID CENTER FRICTION DISC
Ive just removed my rigid 6 puck paddle clutch and fitted an uprated organic, best move ever!!

Have a look at Flak Monkeys posts about sorting the clutch on his s/charged Duratec.
The thread is in the engine section at the top.
Not saying it's an exact solution as obviously his engine is different but might be useful info for those sort of torque levels.

in such a light weight car the aggressive nature of a paddle clutch, added to the fact of having a rigid centre it will be a right bitch to drive, you
will struggle to slip the clutch.
i found it very difficult to pull away on a gentil slope and would either stall the car or have to build the revs up so much it would wheel spin and
was no fun to drive at all
