Engine options (keep the MT75?)
As I'm taking apart the DOHC sierra I'm just thinking about what to do in terms of engine.
It'll be going into a Haynes roadster (most likely). POSSIBLY a GBS zero.
I don't really want to keep the Sierra's engine as it's pissing oil everywhere and whilst it runs supremely, doesn't appear in
the best of condition (blue smoke occasionally etc.). It also doesn't strike me as the most advanced engine out there.
However, the car has an MT75 gearbox, which I could keep.
So, what are the options to mate up to a MT75 - I'm really looking for a cheap solution. I've got a Megasquirt, a turbocharger,
intercooler and all the other relevant bits etc. so whatever engine I get I may do a DIY turbo on it if it's not got enough power.
How much work is it to mate up a Zetec / Duratec / V6 (ford/mazda) to an MT75? What other parts would I need and how much would they cost (I'm
thinking things like sumps, intakes,exhausts that would have to be modified from the donor FWD configuration).
I'm thinking if it's too complex then I may as well just try and source a complete box and engine.
Reason I want to decide now is if I'm not going to keep the MT75 I'll stick it up for sale. Otherwise, I'll keep it in case
something good that it can be connected to comes along.

GBS are fitting duratec into factory built cars, so thats an option as you know it will fit.

the zetec powered cars are good. that would be a decent option on a budget. my uncle runs a black top on carbs and its very quick. its a good light
motor.

Zetec family gets my vote too, I run an ST170 on bike throttle bodies and an old Omex ecu, gives 190-210 bhp.
Once I've finished my loom change, I'll pop over and you can have a blast.

For your mt75 the zetec is the best option. Gearbox bolts straight on. You can use a 1.8 or the heavier 2.0 flywheel. Only custom part is a 20mm
spacer on the thrust bearing. Westfield sell them or make your own. Sump needs work on either silver or black tops. Both can be diy or of the shelf.
Keep your dohc starter motor as it bolts on aswell. Prop is a bit dearer as it needs a sliding section.
