Strange gearbox problem or not?
Could someone offer some opinion on this.
The MT75 in my Sierra DOHC, before coming out, had a peculiarity.
It shifted perfectly smoothly, drove completely fine, no whines/cracks/grinds/crunches or anything. All 5 gears and reverse with no issue.
However, on a few occasions, when coming to a complete standstill, it would be difficult to select a gear, either first, or second. This would happen
maybe once out of every 50-100 stops (didn't actually count), and ONLY at complete standstill.
To get going I just had to jam it in first. It would go in when forced, but still didn't make any grindy/crunchy noises, just seemed to take a
lot of effort to put in. It's NEVER had a problem going into any gear when moving, and again, it was only sometimes at standstill.
Last time I had something similar on an old mini, it was the clutch not fully disengaging (enough for the car not to move at idle, but just biting
enough to make it difficult to stick into gear).
Could someone suggest what it could be?
The gearbox is now out of the car, and there's a small chance I may sell it on in the future if another alternative works out (different
engine/tranny configuration), so I'd like to know what this could be.
If I was keeping it myself it wouldnt bother me since as I mentioned it happened so rarely and worked flawlessly otherwise.

There are many gearbox problems that can cause this.
Check spigot bearing is not binding to the input shaft.
Check input shaft end float, if it can be pulled in and out a mm or 2 this could move forward under braking, I had a similar issue, just inserted a
washer round every bolt between bell housing and engine.
Check gear lever remote linkage, sometimes these get loose where they bolt to the gearbox
Could be worn selector fingers, not easy the check on an MT75
