Went to visit my engine :-)

Went to visit my 383 Chevy Small block this morning - all 400+ Hp at 7500 RPM of it.

Very happy with the way it's looking - going into the Cobra today - should have the car back in a few weeks time then off to the paint shop and then after that off to be wrapped with satin black and copper stripes - can't wait.

I've really missed the sound of my Cobra at 6000+ revs

Now all I need is a 750 CFM carb and single plane manifold then will get closer to 500 Hp - first see how much the 400+ frightens me.

Think the blue block will realy irritate the purists - both Ford & Chev

Total rubbish!! I can take it off your hands to get it out of your garage if you wish to get rid of that pile of scrap. Actually, Cobras are rubbish too so maybe i can collect that while i'm travelling all that way!!

Thanks Fred - the suspension behaved itself till Cape Town and in Fish Hoek the handling started to deteriorate noticeably - turns out it was definitely the shock that failed - replaced it today hence my visit to Racetech in the Strand to look at the engine. Technician at Subaru mentioned that it is normally the left rear shock that fails on Foresters - no one knows why.

PS think my motor would work well in your Lola!!!

Will be running it on a SOP (seat of pants) dyno measuring power by the size of my grin. Think there will be just enough power.

The other measure of power I have is the amount my wife rolls her eyes. Expect quite a lot more of that this time round.

Another measure will be length of black stripes on road - but with new tyres can't properly compare with old motor and old tyres.

The final measure is just how much the tail flicks sideways on the camber.

Some of the above is an indication of how poor a selection of tyres one has for a Cobra (295 X 55 X 15) and just how hard it is to hook it up with those tyres given the torque these motors put out.

Hehe, ok. Would have loved to see the graph of that baby at 7500rpm

Let us know then how much the grin improved
