Starter motor choice?

Hello All,

A quick question please! As per my previous posts, Im using a 2.0 blacktop zetec with standard clutch and flywheel, all nicely married to a type 9.

My question is, as Im using standard flywheel, will the standard mondeo starter be ok to use, as it just so happens I have one that was attached to the donor.

Dont want to shell out for a new one when I may well have a perfectly good one sitting in a box.

Thanks in advance.

Andy

No it doesnt fit.

You need one from a 1.8 cvh sierra, 2.0 Dohc or a pinto if you make up a spacer.

Its still not that easy as the body on some are thicker than others making sump clearance hard work.

What are you doing with the sump ?

The sump has already been chopped down. So just need a starter, I realise that I have to modify the Ali part of the sump, just wanted to know what starter I know need to look for!!

The scholar and Dunnell sumps have a hatch cut out and a plate welded in to give more room. If you have a fatter bodied starter you can end up grinding most of the way through the sump to give clearance.

Hence question mate. One thing affects another that in turn affects another and so on.

you have u2u.
