Escort Engine
Hi Everyone;
Been darn the scappers this morning, looking for a tension-type throttle return spring. Its clear that most modern cars now fit torsion-type springs
to the throttle linkage, so very few tension types available. However, I eventually found one which fits the bill.
Some cars were self-evidently scrap-worthy, but 3 or 4 were clearly not scrap candidates (or so I thought). After paying up for my spring, I
questioned the scrapyard geezer about these better-looking cars. He pointed to the most recent arrival, a W-reg Ford Escort, which had covered only
32k miles, had been left standing for a couple of years, so no tax or MoT. He made the point that it was now worth more as a "breaker",
than as a second-hand car.
I could almost have made a bid for it, but common sense prevailed. On the other hand, this Escort is fitted with a Zetec 1.6 engine, which might be
worth bidding for.
What do you reckon - which Zetec version is it, and will it be worth having?
Work-in-Progress: Changed to Zetec + T9. Still trying!!

1.6 zetec E I dont think they ever fitted the se to the escort.
Its worth bugger all. Sump / fly wheel all worth more on there own. Only 90bhp, 1.8 and 2.0 not exactly rare.

If that's a W reg Escort, it's not a Zetec. It will be the bastard son of a crossflow known as the Endura. Nasty, very nasty.
