Synchromesh please help
I am having difficulty engaging 2nd when chaning down and suspect the synchromesh is worn so am trying to find a gearbox specialist hopefully
somewhere in the west midlands or south west area so I can drive to them.
I am looking for a resourcful mechanic/engineer who isn't afraid of doing something a bit different as the gearbox is a Mitsubishi KM141 4 speed
(with a Hi Lo Box and a Warn Overdrive fitted).
The background is that I am in the process of building a 1975 Mitsubishi Model J26 Jeep.
The original 2.6 Ltr 4 cylinder ASTRON engine has been skimmed and runs smoothly.
Waterpump and radiator has been rebuilt, cooling is now fine. The timing, etc has been sorted.
16 rims and a Warn Overdrive means that it now will travel at 50 - 60 mph without me expecting the engine to explode.
The reason I can't go to Mitsubsihi is the age of the Jeep means I can't just email them or an exporter in Japan, although I have managed
to get a carb rebuild kit from one of the owner club guys in Kyoto. The problem there is a lot gets lost in translation.
So if anyone has any suggestions they would be very much appreciated as with the sun shining, the top back and the windscreen down it's a lovely
little beast to drive. But not so much fun when turning right across oncomming traffic trying to find a gear
Many thanks,
Bern

Mine went on my old Fiesta and it was cheaper to get a replacement reconditioned box than to have it repaired.
