Pinto Upgrades

Looking at upgrades for the pinto,

As it stands im running at 2.0 non 205 block carb'd pinto
standard head
lightened flywheel
arp flywheel bolts
Twin 40Dcoes
3d Megajolt running TPS
GBS Tubluar manifold. 4-1
Red top pump and filter king regulator set to about 1.5/2 Psi

Im looking at tuning options, im not looking to mess with the block too much or at all if im honest, the plan is to acquire a head and do any valve train mods req, fit a new cam and prob bike carbs, now ive been told fireblade carbs are what i want but how true is this or if there is something else i should be looking for.

Plan is to get the new system together before stripping the old off so i need to work out a parts list.

If you can't find a ported head with bigger valves find and fit an Injection head as this has a much better inlet port.
Increase compression by skimming the head or by fitting a thinner Felpro head gasket.
Use a Kent cam FR32 its a good bet so is a FR33 but the more radical a cam you use the more compression you will require.
Standard rods are good to 6800 continuous, injection rods to 7200.
Electronic mappable ignition such as the Megajolt is more flexible than an electronic dizzy.

On the pinto one of the best things you can do is matching the intake manifold to the blocks ports as there is usually (always) a nasty step there. Very easy to do with a dremel and some grinding stones, you just need some marking ink and some card to clamp inbetween the two to see what needs removed.

as above, concentrate on the head then finish it off with a cam like an neumans PH2 or PH3 / kent FR32 / piper 285 and slightly bigger carbs like twin 45's or similar sized bike carbs like ZX9R, R1 etc... (can't remember what size fireblade ones are)

to get any big gains after that you'd need to start working on the bottom end to let it rev more
