American V8's

Evening all,

Today a guy I asked me where he could find a GM 5.something v8. I replied I have no idea! But the interesting thing is that he has a band spanking new mustang SRT 5.7 litre v8 he is willing to swap for it valued he says at 12k. It's for a boat?

Now I know f-@ll about American mussel engines but thought I would try and help the guy out. Any info on anything would help me on my mission. He has some images which I will get off him and post for reference.

www.ebay.com usually has loads of V8 engines for sale, doubt that'd be the best place to organise a swap though.

Rods n Sods forum is probably your best bet in the UK, or eurodragsters.

The ford engines are less popular, hence him wanting to swap it I would suggest....

well from he discription the guy hasn't a clue, ford have never made a 5.7, the the srt is a dodge engine not a ford mustang, if its an dodge 5.7 i don't think it will be an srt, all the srt's were 6.1, so basicly a mustang srt 5.7 is 3 different engines

mustang svt would be 4.6 or 5.4

I was thinking the SRT was the dodge - to be honest I didn't know enough to know that ford didn't make a 5.7 though....
Perhaps he means some kind of chevy 5.7? Was a 5.7 in the ss camaro?

A bird in the hand....

5.7 could be an old 350ci out of an old camero, but no way worth 12k, and the new 5.7 dodge hemi is only the basic v8 they stick in everything thats v8 so a new one is cheap, even the 6.1 srt v8 is only a few $1000k on ebay, £12k is like $17k over here in america, and for that u could get an almost new 600hp viper gen4 engine and 6 speed, or a 5.4 supercharger mustang gt500 engine, best thing to do is get a pic of it and ask him to tel you again what he thinks it is and maybe tell him if he decribes it the same again, that he is decribing 3 different engines
