Pinto breather setup questions
I have a pinto engine in my kit car but the oil filler/cam breather touches the bonnet it's only just couching it but enough to be annoying so
was thinking of blocking this off as I could make a cap but wouldn't be able to make it a breather
I didn't build the car I bought it used and whoever built it has pretty much blocked the crank vent off they have rammed a metal pipe in it and
kinked it over so assume all the vapour is coming out of the top breather
Could I block the top one off and just use the bottom one and run that to a catch can and put a breather filter on it would this work okay
Thanks

I cut mine off the top of the rocker cover and added another to the rear of it, mate made me a filler breather out of Ali but you can get a breather
take off from most motor factors to fit the original size filler neck.
I wouldn't think it's a great idea to block it off totally! I'm no expert though!!

I have a feeling blocking it off I'd a bad idea but don't know why if I'm honest because the only pressure in the cam cover would
have originated from the crank anyway and it has quite large oil drain ways from the top to the bottom

Well as far as i can say YES
I have a filler cap that is blocked of and a crank / sump breather that goes to a tank but make sure there is no one way valves fitted in the pipe
Its up to you if you do this but it works ok on my engine
Jacko
PS make sure you have a flame trap fitted in the block / sump thats the bit thats in the block on a standard engine where the pipe comes from
