Zetec Blacktop Retro-Ford Idler Pulley question
Anyone with a Retro-Ford Idler Pulley?
I've bought the Retro-Ford blacktop Zetec idler pulley and mount and can't seem to get it to fit. The bolt holes line up, in pic below,
but the top bolt hole won't sit flush with the engine if the bottom bolt hole is lined up with the water pump bolt. Is the idea that the top
bolt hole is free to move on its bolt? or should I make a spacer? or have I got it completely wrong??

i guess if the belt runs true make a spacer? Did u buy the alternator mounts aswell from RF?

I think it needs the bottom cambelt cover on to fit properly. Ill have a look at mine tonight

yup, you're right I think smac, I'm pretty sure mine bolts through the cover. I can also check this evening...

No just the idler pulley and mount.
Re the cam cover, I did try offering it up with the cover on and it looked like it was too far out / forward. That's really why I'm asking
the question to see how others have done it. I have found one pic where it's mounted without the cam cover...
Smac / Fizzer would be really interested to see what you've done.

If I understand the question correctly my bracket had a spacer tack welded to the back, you can just see it on this picture
 
Alternator belt pulley
Its behind the 10mm bolt you can see here,
 
Alternator belt
If yours isnt sitting square I guess the spacer is missing, as I say this was tack welded to the plate when I recieved it from RF

Mine's the same. I guess you couldpack it with washers but probably best to get a fixed bracket.

Washers would do the job but considering how much RF charge for the bracket Id ask them to send me a replacement with the spacer fitted!!

Cheers guys, Bizarro great pic's I can see that the cam cover does indeed need to be in place!! It must just look out of line until you bolt it
up (especially before taking the water pump bolt out).
Nearly finished getting the engine in now, sorting the pulley is one of the three remaining jobs, then I blatting again :-)))))
