Type 9 breathing
One for all the Type 9 experts.
does the Type 9 gearbox have a breather to release pressure? if so where is it located?
the problem i have (and it was suggested by Bro in law a ferrari mechanic) is that the oil leaks i have are because the box is becomming over
pressured. i have noted that most uprated boxes have a breather put into the top plate.
Looking at the haynes book i cannot see anywhere the mention of a breather valve, so question if there is one to get blocked.
would it help if i put a breather outlet in the top cover?

There is a small hole as a breather in the top cover. It sits on a small spherical protrusion and as some kind of shield underneath ISTR.
It often get painted over when the box is tarted up and people forget to unblock it.

^^ what they said
also make sure the box isn't over filled - I think the level on some of the boxes is actually bellow the plug....

many thanks lads, just hoping that this will cure the oil leaks as it has coated the trans tunnel and leaks out into the footwells.
once again many thanks.
