Sump brace, remove?

Hi all,

Does any one know if it's safe to remove this brace??

Engine is a fiat 20valve.

It's supports the sump and gearbox.

Cant say for sure on the fiat, but the zetec to type9 or mt75 installations only use 5 connecting bolts above the centre line of the bellhousing.

Blacktops had a similar brace but I don't know of anyone using it.

Don't know the answer to that one personally but if you look here under fiat coupe engine or similar there are peops who've used that engine in different applications.
If you join that forum and put up a post I suspect Guy himself will answer it if nobody else does.
HTH.

I suppose if in doubt and it isn't fouling anything on the chassis, then it's not doing any harm so might as well leave it in place.
