Zetec water rails

Hello all,
Looking at purchasing a water rail kit for the blacktop Zetec that's going in to my Dax Rush. What are peoples opinions on the options avalable? I am looking at the Dunnell, Raceline and RetroFord products. As far as I can see, they are all pretty similar other than the Raceline product moves the thermostat away from the head whereas the other two keep the thermostat much closer to its original position.
Thanks in advance,
IanM

Stick with the standard ford thermo housing. I had a Raceline one to start, all sorts of problems, and ended up back on the standard one.

If your dead set on one make sure the thermostat is right next to the head.

Unless you need the space behind the engine I dont see the point in spending money on a rail. Standard thermostat with a pipe/hose along the side of the engine bay works perfectly well.

as above, I used standard thermostat housing and made my own. GBS do one on ww.kitspares.co.uk

But my own one cost me about £20 to make. can supply pics if needed.

is your rush chassis built for the zetec ?

dax allow a bit more space behind the head on zetec chassis for the thermostat - if its not got the space now you can allways mod the chassis (its been done before, gary/peter at dax can advise if need be)

Mine uses the standard thermostat and a vacuum cleaner 32mm chrome pipe at a cost of £2.99.

Cheap and Shiny!

Me too, it was the silicon hose I used that made it a £20 installation

Unless you have a space restriction like a mk2 escort, don't bother. NOTHING works as well as the stat that's on the back of the donor engine.

I've had a couple of Race line rails and the bling factor is there and easy plumbing but its is just bling if you have the space.

32mm pipe and some silicone hose as above, Tiger,GBS,car builder solutions and some others all sell pipework set ups.

Have a look at the zetec set ups of those who have replied (photo archives) should give you a good idea of what you can achieve.
