Reverse box stopped working
So tonight it stopped working it would go in reverse but wouldn't go back into drive so I've got it out and stripped it apart there
wasn't a lot of oil in it and small specks of metal that were stoping the drive cog from re engaging
Can anyone tell me the best way to clean it out and what is the best oil to put in and how full do I fill it

As you are reluctant to talk to the supplier, with hardly any oil I suspect their interest will be low any away.
If mine I would remove, flush through with paraffin or diesel and shake all the bits out, then examine for damage.
If the bearings are rough or damaged then look at them, there will be a unique part number so order and replace, a couple of little chips on gear
teeth you will just have to live with.
Maybe even drill and install a magnetic sump bung to trap grinding s in the future if this does not exit today.

Box is now back together and working just need to put it all back together
What I did find was that the output shaft on the engine is turning when the engine is is in nutral so when you try to engage reverse the cog on the
reverse box is turning on the engine side and the cog to the rear of the box is still causing it to grind when you engage
Looks like the only way round it is to stop the engine before engaging reverse

Just found that if I push the clutch down in neutral the engine shaft stops turning I've been putting it in reverse in neutral and that's
why it's been grinding the cogs
Also when it's in first gear with the clutch down the output shaft is turning very slowly, so it's nutral with clutch down to change into
reverse

Hi Mr T
I am aware that it uses a special oil specific to the bearings used. The engineer in me knows from experience the expensive consequences of using the
wrong oil.
Also did you go to Donnington this year.
Good luck with the reverse box.

Hi
Only if you have put it through a sieve first, changed its chemical signature and not over filled the box. On the bright side you can use the chip
newspaper to carry the bits hope after the box explodes.
