FIAT Uno Turbo. RWD 'box ?
I've seen a couple of Uno turbo's for sale that are beyond MOT and are available cheap.
Are there any RWD gearboxes that'll bolt straight up ?
Did FIAT do the Ford trick of using the same bellhousing bolt pattern for the majority of the 20th century ?
Will the Lada 'box fit ?
Cheers for reading

Fiat boxes. I have investigated these to death. The fiat bolt pattern for the 2.0l twin cam, Lancia, Alfa are all the same, the uno turbo will
probably be the same as well. But phone this bloke FL Autos 01778 440000 he will confirm or deny.
If the pattern is the same then any Fiat 131/2 box will fit also the Lada one will bolt on but it will fall to bits if you put any power through it
(120hp +). Also you will need to check to see if the starter is on the Left or the Right of the engine. Standard 131s are on the left (nearside); I
say this as I have fitted one to a Lancia Turbo which has two balance shafts and the starter on the Right side (offside). The starter will not fit on
the left, if a 131 bell housing is used, on this engine because of the position of the balance shaft.
There is one model of 131 which has the starter on the right side but is fairly rare, I know of one bell housing, I also know of several other bell
housings of the other type. Incidentally, the bell housing from the Lada will not fit to a 131 box although this has the starter on the right.
Fiat engines are excellent engines and miles better than the cars that hold them and better than most Ford engines.
I hope this helps, if you need more info please ask.
