Normal radiator / charge cooler pre rad is there any difference ?

As per title, does anybody know if there's a difference between an engine cooling radiator and a charge cooler pre radiator ? From my very limited knowledge of this subject I have conclude that they both do the same thing: cool water. So why does a charge cooler pre rad cost twice the price of a normal rad from what I can see ?

Cheers

So I was told its to get a good spread of water over a large area at a slow flow rate.

Me I used a small air con radiator in a few installs and never had a problem with them, have seen one using a bike radiator as well but he was only running low turbo heat anyway. My next install will be with an air con radiator. Look at Nissan micra ones
