Hello everyone
Hi Everyone,
I just retired and plan to build a kit car, I'm a technical person (Process Engineer), spent most of my life in the Oil industry  , lots of
experience working on technical things (projects small to huge) but not cars so it will be a challenge for me, which I am looking forward to.
Went to the Malvern Kit Car show this year as its close by, I live in the West Midlands (Tenbury Wells) and spent a while looking at my 7-style
options and currently leaning heavily towards a Quantum Xtreme, (might seem like a slightly off-the-wall choice to some). My plan is to go down and
visit the factory and get into some details with the peeps down there.
My aim is to get started this year, even if its just stripping a donor vehicle, I expect the project to take me a long time .......
Thanks to the admins for the help joining the group, looking forward to reading about other peoples projects and, at some, point, asking for advice

personally I would suggest using a newer doner than a sierra. MX5 seem popular.
(unless of course you just happen to have a very rusty sierra just waiting to be resurrected )
the other thing I would recommend is downloading the IVA test 'manuals' (get the M1, N1, and whichever for motorcycle / light quads etc.)
(most kit cars are M1; but good to see the options before you start)

Yes this is the place to ask all your questions, i was in same position as you back in 2006/7, with a huge amount of help from this forum, I spent 1
yr striping donor and cleaning up the parts, then ordered a kit (MAC#1) and another 2 yrs to get it built. Done 19,000 miles in the thing now and love
it to bits. Enjoy the journey!
Why do they call Port Harcourt "The Garden City"?...... Becauase they can't spell Stramash.

I almost never post here, but have been lurking even longer than on the Kitz forums, where you became one of the regulars. ;-)
You will find just as warm a welcome here, I have absolutely no doubt.

You’re absolutely right about the Sierra, people are restoring them nowadays!
Quantum have developed a new MX-5 based version of the Xtreme, it also incorporates quite a few other changes and upgrades from the original car -
this is the model I am considering building. I was fortunate enough to visit the factory earlier this week and have a look at one currently in
build.
All being well I shall be out looking for a suitable donor this autumn

I also like the Quantum Extreme and would have it on my shortlist of sevenesques if I was building today, especially now it has the mx5 donor. While
you were at their works were you tempted by the LMR141? Not a 7 I know but I kind of want one!

Definitely, they are gorgeous! The display car was in the factory when I visited, along with what appeared to be some others in the process of
assembly, absolutely beautiful. Its a really classy package and seeing the chassis made me appreciate how well it integrates with the donor MX-5. I
have my mind set on an Xtreme but LMR141 is certainly very tempting.
The main appeal to me is the Quantum designs have an impressive chassis / monocoque design, in my opinion this sets them apart from other kits,
slightly heavier than some of the tubular steel frames but stiffer, stronger and relatively more spacious. Potentially this will work better for me
as I am mainly interested in a road car and it is slightly more practical, only slightly though!
I had a great time there chatting to Rob and looking at the cars. LMR141

Love Hull! Lived there for years (was a long time ago mind you), my daughter was born there, I used to work offshore flying out of Humberside and also
spent a lot of time working at Easington gas terminals.
But yes, I think it would be a 2 days trip to Devon at least!
