Bike fuel pump ??

Hi all,

I was wondering if any of you can help on this, Due to a clearence problem I need an electric fuel pump that will work with a weber DGV carb, I don't want to spend a huge amount of cash on a facet or similar pump and I have been unable to find an electric pump on a carb'd car down at my local breakers. I found lots of bike fuel pumps on ebay can anyone advise me on this ? I would have thought a pump for a 600cc bike should easliy be able to feed a 2.0 pinto ??

I saw a BEC down at MK today with an electric one from a Vauxhall Cavalier... noisey but it did the job. Bike one's can be expensive in comparison

I can see no reason - something like a Honda VFR750 pump will set you back about £15 on eBay. You just need to verify the flow rate. As a guide a CBR600 pump flows 650cc/minute, and CBR1000F flows 900cc/minute. Externally most are very similar, and come witha rubber mounting sleeve (I made a 'U' bracket which the pump mount drops on to)

Cheers I was looking at a CBR600 unit which looks quite small and easy to adapt to 4 wheeled use. I have been busy with google and pumaracing recommend 0.7L/min per 100bhp so the CBR600 should almost do this, but I think I'll try to find a unit from a 750 just to be on the safe side.

Subarus use the same Mitsubishi pump as most bikes do except they're slightly larger and flow a tad more. Very neat and compact though and they come with a rubber mount which slides onto a removeable steel fork. Quite easily adaptable.

I bought a early ZX6 pump off ebay for less than a £10 inc postage. So I will just have to suck it and see !
