Intermediate Jet on Weber 45s
Took the car for a quick MOT yesterday, meant i got to drive it which was great fun!
Was abit of hesitation in the lower RPM range, felt like a misfire.
When i got to the station and he tested the emissions it was slightly high, he said this was most likely caused y the miss, he said he is very sure
that it was the intermediate jets as it was only on cylinders 1 and 2 (the exhaust manifold was slighlty cooler on 1 and 2)
He said give them a good clean and they should be fine, he couldnt remember how to get to them as he hasnt worked on DCOEs for years. I used to have
an exploded diagram of the carbs, but cant find it.
How do i get the jets out, and shall i just wash them out in petrol?
Other than that the car was running great, sooo much fun, took it easy but was great cruising through town on the way back, great day for it too.
Thanks
Chris

Blocked idle jet (aka slow running jet) unscrew the tops from the carbs and the jet holders are right at the top just, unscrew the holder and idle
jet are fitted to the bottom end of the holders. The idle jet is the one with the smallest orrifice, it will have a number on it like 45F8 or 50F9
it just pulls out from the holder.
Blow it through with a foot pump to clear it.

Am i right in thinking there is 3 jets, idle, intermediate and main?
If im right, i'm pretty sure its the intermediate (is this the slow running jet) one thats blocked. As it idles ok, its just as you go up the
revs it pops a little and struggles a bit.
Is it the same process to get to the intermediate jet aswell?
I was just a bit worried incase it needed unscrewing and i would return it to the old position, being so close to SVA and getting it on the road i
dont want to screw it up!
Cheers for the info.

idle
main
aircorrector
Air corector prevents over richness on the change over from idle to main --- it is not prone to blockage.
The jets should be screwed in quite tightly -- don't confuse the jets with the idle mixture screws.

Try here
weber schematic Looks complicated . Use some carb cleaner and compressed air on them.
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Thanks i think i understand it now! I managed to find my schematic.
I took the idle jets out and in one there was something in there over the hole at the bottom, so hopefully that will sort that out, the other one
looked fine and i'm pretty sure that both 1 and 2 were missing. Will fire it up and check tomorrow.
