revcounter suddenly reading wrong
just took the locost out for a blast (trackday tommorow, wanted to makes sure its alive and well still!) and the revcounter seems to be reading a bit
high. I am by now very familiar with the sound of the engine, and i reckon its reading about 6k when its doing just under 5k.
Does anyone have a clue what might be causing this, and is it likely to prove fatal?! Obviously i'll be devastated if it breaks down tommorow,
as the trackday was £170.
Any help or advice much appreciated

Don't suppose you've got another set of dials or any other way of testing the RPM? just as a bit of a check?
Or can you remember a certain speed is usualy a certain RPM......
A long shot but the air into the engine might have been colder than your used to? it can make quite a difference

As long as you can recognise the engine speed by sound and don't get over excited tomorow you should be OK without the rev counter. Don't
know where it is wired some are attached to the alternator, if so check it is charging OK. If you are connected to an engine management system
don't really know I am afraid

Very good point, you really don't look at the rev counter on a track day, it is done pretty much sound and feel

quite true chaps, obviously i shift by noise and feel, not by staring at the counter, i just was worried that there might be water in the leads
somewhere - the cover blew off the other day and it had a full day getting rained on!
Good point about the speedo, but unforunately the speedo has never worked either! lol
hopefully all will be anyway, im taking a good selection of tools with me! (welder, compressor and generator included! )
