Spec for standard 2.0L mondeo cams ?
Anyone got the info for lift duration etc for standard 2.0L zetec cams. I think I may have found a new set of uprated cams at a reasonable price. I
just want to check how much more radical they will be compared to the standard ones. Also want to check whether I need to replace the standard valve
springs (the new cams will give 10.41mm[inlet] and 9.52mm[exhaust] lift with 262 degrees duration).
thanks

Sorry I can't help with answer to standard parts. I do know that the upgrade cams fitted by most people are 285 duration.

I've read this as well, however looking into this piper say to run the 285 cams you really need to be using throttle bodies and kent only do 278
or 304 cams, both requiring new valve springs and followers. Piper 285 cams have the range of 2500-7500rpm. Kent on the other hand do a 278 cam with a
range of 2500-7000 or a 304 cam with a range of 3750 - 8000rpm. The cams I am looking at have a duration of 262 degrees and a range of 1500-6500rpm,
this seemed a much better bet for a car I use more on the road than on the track. I'm really after a bit more mid range torque than more top end
power.
The more radical cams also seem to require more "extras" such as new valve springs, followers (conversion to mechanical from hydraulic in
case of some products). Then there was the info that said without some headwork you would never get the full benefit of the more radical cams
anyway.
Hence what was looking to be a reasonable upgrade looked like it was going to end up well over the £1000 mark. So my intention is to use milder cams,
retain my existing valve springs and followers and hopefully end up with a car that is drivable and a less empty pocket. I think the standard 2.0L
mondeo cams may be 240 duration with an inlet lift of 7.4mm, however I have only heard this in conversation. Maybe I should call Scholar Engines,
Dunnell or Raceline they may have the info I want ?
thanks
