I have used hammerite on a Pinto engine block before with no adverse effects.

You can get proper engine paint from Halfrauds for a few quid - works very nicely, with no risk of flaking, blistering, and so on. Easy to apply, as long as the surface is de-greased properly.

Yes Hammerite works well on the head and block.

A bit of a pain to cover though.

i used hammerite spray ontop of VHT as a primer on my calipers when i had a celica GT4 and they didn't even consider peeling. They got rather hot too so i would say it would be fine.

it will be ok. you need to ensure the surface is spotlessly clean as any grot underneath will cause bubbles and flaking.

Yep, will work fine.

Incidentally the best paint that I have found for blocks is industrial floor paint (or just garage floor paint bought from B&Q)

looks businesslike in grey or brick-red and is plenty heat resistant enough, as well as being extremely tough stuff.
