New project
well as of yesterday everyone i have done a U tern and entered the world of kit car ownership in a very different way to the planned shelsley T2
GT.
After a visit to Keith Kirk at venom I came away expecting an agonising 4 week wait for my GT2 chassis.
In that time i however plan to get underway with ripping apart an old granada for the required parts BUT dont fancy 220hp v6 in a car which weighs
almost a ton.
So need to find an engine, I like smallblock chevy v8's particulary the lightweight ali block LS1 but there not particulary cheap from the most
promiment suppliers so any ideas where i can get one cheaper?
second question is if not a chevy V8 then what cars have dirty great engines i could pinch? I like BMW V12's but a manual gearbox is something
im not willing to comprimise on.
So if anyone can point me in the direction to 400+hp for next to nothing it would be much appreciated.
Rob

I got a straight six BMW lump and Gearbox, with alternator, starter motor, injectors etc.
I believe it's the 3.0 Straight Six - with a decent management unit should push out some serious horsepower?
Or I can get you a 2.5V6 Duratec?
My mate owns a scrapyard...
Cheers,
M

i had a look for an ls1 engine when i was in the states last autumn and found an engine at a breakers for £1600 minus the loom ecu etc a used box
would be around £400 so with shipping around £2400 but thats minus the middle man over here
it looks a much more compact unit than a carbed smallblock.

Well My sister lives in the states so anything purchased there would get shipped to her then labled as a "gift" before being forwarded to
me. Id rather not go this route tho as id rather see before buying.
There is one on ebay at the moment but theres 4 days to go and its already on 1500 quid but it has box loom and ecu

Im thinking of one two
which Ford motor? The 4.6L V8 is physically massive especially in DOHC form. Bigger than the old big blocks. The pushrod 5.0L or 302cid is a very
compact and reasonably light unit.

Rob,
Like you, I'd be rather interested in the LS1 - for those that don't know about it, read this
