320 BHP from a 5.7 litre, kinda lazy is it not? How easy are these to modify upwards? Perhaps a megasquirt/megajolt setup for tuning? Interesting
to see how much it goes for.

These are great engines. I saw one at the autosport show "in the flesh" for the first time this weekend, and they are incredibly compact
for such a large displacement.
If only TVR had used the LS1 instead of developing their own piece of unreliable scrap metal...

GM really under rates their engines for the N.A. market. The early LS1 engine was rated at 310-320BHP when in reality it made nearly that at the
wheels. Most stock early LS1 make 300-318rwhp in the camaros. The stock bottom end is good for roughly 500rwhp reliably. After that you will
shorten the life of the engine. There are guys running nearly 800rwhp through stock bottom ends. I think someone recently got over 1000rwhhp through
a stock bottom end (with aftermarket pistons). The LS1/6 respond VERY well to mods and the power potential is pretty impressive.
We did heads and a cam on a friends 00 Camaro and gained almost 100rwhp. The car now is 420rwhp, 418rw ftlbs. That is corrected and through an
unlocked torque convertor with an emmisions cam.
There are a few things I dont like about the LS1. The pistons rattle cold until the cylinders heat up, the cam bearings can get wiped out early
again from cold starts as the block heats up un-evenly.
All in all, if you can afford one there probably isn't a better engine for a light weight car with some power. The aftermarket is building TONS
of parts for these engines as well.

the people selling that engine in particular had one with a 6speed box last week too and seem to specalise in them to a certain extent.
I will be using one of these engines in my kit, dont see any reason why not to, after speaking with someone who builds them for a living who informed
me that after building a 375hp item was asked to move the power up the rev range because it just span, with fitting a new cam it increased the power
evenly over the whole rev range, quite an impressive engine.

Buy a cerbera with blown engine, and slot one of these babies in....pretty much the ultimate conversion!!
