Bogg Brothers apology.
I have just recieved this;
My father Dave Bogg retired five years ago.Whatever your gripes with him were finished then.My brother and I re-named the business Bogg Brothers, not
only do I and my family find your comments offensive but our solicitor thinks they are slanderous as the person who started this link wanted to know
how to contact Bogg Bros and not Dave Bogg.If we do not recieve an apology either to this address or on Locost builders we will take it further. And by
the way my father had many hundreds of satisfied customers for his ability to set up carburettors and would have no problems defending his name.
Steve Bogg.
I apologise to Bogg Brothers. As with most cases, when you have a bad experience, it leaves a bad taste. I was not aware that Bogg Brothers were not
the same as 'Boggy' (aka Dave Bogg). For this I apologise and to all other forum members, please treat them as you find them.
It cannot be considered slanderous if it is the truth. What I said was an accurate account of my experience and if Dave Boggs' lawyer wants to
play court cases than I can call on several witnesses, including the garage who eventually fixed the car who remember the job (I called them to
check!).
Sorry once again to the Bogg Brothers.

Personally I'd tell 'em to wee off....
You made it clear that it was Dave Boggs you had dealings with, you're (I'm sure) just telling of a past experience with him.
You didn't slate him or owt, it seemed a statement of fact. Surely that's one of the major strengths of this site, the ability to speak
with other like-minded people and share experiences, good and bad ?
If they "find your comments offensive" they don't need to threaten you with solicitors, they need to stop reading it.

I'll apologise in advance....
I laughed when I read the name "Bogg Brothers" and am now very ashamed of my childish thoughts .
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Having read your original post I am astounded. In my line of work nobody does anything without a written quote to stop costs spiralling. If it were
"Bagg Sisters" I could understand it as I would just presume it was the time of the month or something (apologies to all female LCBs with
that one), but they seem to be a little too concerned about your comments, harmless though they were. I think I'd have gone for a day in court.
DO NOT PUT ON KNOB OR BOLLOCKS!

I do not wish to add fuel to a fire, and I am known as a non-confrontational type of chap, but this is way over the top.
As far as I am concerned, you were expressing an opinion which was based on your experience and your hard cash.
Slander would be XXXX XXXXX are a bag of SH**E. You have not written this.
Way over the top, slander - my arse.
P.S. Please dont slander my arse.

have to sort of get his side of things as im sure that lots of small businesses get a rodding off an unhappy customer on the net and unfortunately
the poo sticks. im having a kit off bogg bros despite what ive heard as im sure they wouldnt be in business if all the customers felt the same.

I read the original post and it didn't seem at all vitriolic or accusitory.
It's a bit poor when solicitors get dragged into something like this.

Good God, just read the original thread! I was expecting a 1000 word slagging off. Not the couple of lines you're written. Seems a little OTT.
As for having your day in court, i remember a comment a lawyer made, only two people win in court cases, the lawyer and the person with the most
money.

Unbelievable, they've done themselves no favours at all by resorting to this lawyer bullshit. The original post said nothing which could be
considered slanderous (i.e. a false and malicious statement or report about someone). I had heard only good things about Bogg Bros up untill I read
their threats.
I propose a new verb, "to bogg" which means: "to shoot ones self in the foot"
Useage: "I really bogged it on Saturday by threatening the use of my lawyers"

This 'appology' thread (as requested by them!) is far more damaging than the original statement of fact which IMO was perfectly
reasonable.

I made a mistake and apologised. Dave Bogg was in business for a lot of years and if he upset too many folks, he would have been out of business years
ago.
I have heard numerous good things about Bogg Bros but I incorrectly thought they were one and the same as Dave Bogg and my posting was relating to my
personal experiences.
Lets have no more said about it but feel free to un-slag Bogg Bros! Lets have some positive comments from genuine customers who can put the record
straight.

GOD BLESS BOG BROS!
What absolutely stellar chaps they are. First name terms with the Queen too, I would imagine.
I hope nothing bad ever happens to them, in fact, if it does, they should contact me and I will gladly stand-in for them. Oh Lord, shower the pain on
me - shelter thy lambs from thy wrath.
Neil.
p.s. I've no idea who they are.
Your sort make me sick

I would have considered using them untill this statement, puts me right off!
Perhaps they should apologise to Locostbuilders members once they have calmed down!!!!!!!!
I have only heard praise for them until now.
Whats the phrase? takes years to build a reputation ,one bad incident to lose it,or something like that.
And before they spout at me ,yes I have had my own business in the car repair trade, and I still run a transport business.
Yours bemused,Dean......
Once I've finished a project why do I start another?

Give them a break guys
Everyone, please, give them a break.
They're starting their own business having just lost their dad.
Perhaps a nicely worded letter/post on this forum stating that any customers unhappy with their dads work could come in to see the new business for a
(free if it is the same business) look see and fix would have been more customer orientated. If it's not actually the same business then they
could still have made some friendly request to acknowledge that they are not the same concern.
If you carry on like this fairly soon they will have cause to seek damages as someone will post something genuinely offensive, not just offensive to
someone who has just lost their dad and started a business and is consequently feeling a bit stressed.

bogg senior (or at least, an old chap working there) balanced my carbs on the old xflow engine. I found him to be very amicable, he made several parts
for free, and only charged £70 for 3 hours on the rollers. The results were quite acceptable to me. The only worrying part was when i had to stand on
the back axle to make it grip the rollers, and the absence of any ropes or chocks
As for the lads, never met them. Bit of an overreaction by them it would seem, but anyone can have a bad day.

Their skill and talent is beyond question, and they have built an enviable reputation as quality fabricators and bike carb conversion specialists.
Whether that reputation remains unharmed after this outburst remains to be seen.

If not then I've no idea.
I have not got as far as using Bogg Brothers but having talked to them I believe that are good at what they do and I wouldn't hesitate to use
their services.
However if it was a green convertible Moggy, I think it was Beardmore Brothers who made it.

Having just read the original post, I never did in the 1st place as I had no interest in a post headed "Bogg" I think they by asking for
an public apology thru a solicitor or whatever have just made sure that 99% of people who read this thread wouldn't ever go near them.
I will keep an eye on the post.
Oh and sorry if i slandered the Bogg boys, think they got the blogg on.
