engine height / cabs/bonnet

using luego mounts on a x-flow sits the engine beautifully, around1.2/2 inches below the bottom rail . Problem is the webber twin choke(32/36 dgav) doesn't want to fit under the mk bonnet , even with an extended filter hole. anyone else found this . I don't really want to drop the engine anymore as it will be "too" low, but the other options are???????????will i need a different model carb ???

I have made my mounts so the engine sits exactly 1" below the chassis.
I stuck the engine in, stood the head and carbs on so I could check the clearance.

For me, the oil filler is just at the same level as where the bonet line will go. This is as expected. I have always expected to have to cut a hole for the carbs.

The options I have if it didn't fit was to either shorten the sump so I can lower the engine even more, or rais the nosecone / scuttle / both to give a higher bonet clearance.
