r1 clocks on 4age setup
hey guys
im building a 4age luego. i bought an early set of r1 clocks, now i would really like to use these clocks as they are small and look the dogs balls
etc.
i would like some good advise on:
* what sensor to use?
* also if the speedhealer is going to be of any use?
*and has anyone got any wiring diagrams for the R1clock itself??
think thats it for now.
thanks
Rob

I would say your best bet is to find someone local with the same year R1 engine and set about all the sensors with a multimeter.
However, I think you will seriously struggle to get everything working unless you're an electronics wizz, as some of the feeds such as RPM will
come from the bike's ECU rather than direct pickups off a coil trigger, so you'll find it difficult to replicate the signals it requires
when using a different engine / ECU.
An R1 Haynes manual wiring diagram would be a good place to start to see which are direct sensor feeds and which are from the ECU.

I don't know for sure on this one, but most Rev counter feeds from ECUs are just square wave outputs, and "often" the rev counter
will therefore respond perfectly well to running from the coil negative.
Certainly my Elliot tachos have run equally from either the MBE systems ECU output or the coil negative.

I know that the R1 ECU sends fault codes to the dash in the form of RPM signals, for example when turning on the ignition with the EXUP valve
disconnected, the rev counter will dance up to ~8k rpm, and does different things for different faults. Whether this kind of activity would determine
the type of signal its sending I dont know?
Good luck with it though
