F1 engines
Just having a discussion about F1 engines. What size/type are they these days, and how powerful are they?

the f1 season has changed big time this year! All cars last season ran 3.0 litre V10's but this season All the teams apart from one are running
2.4 litre V8's,
hope this helps
Alex

This year 2.4 litre V8s, approx 700-750bhp.
Last year 3 litre V10s, approx 950bhp.
Next year, who knows? 2006 looks to be a good season though...

They don't really sound any different though, do they ?
A V8 has no right to sound like that...

r u guys watching the barrain grand prix? what an excellent way to start the new season, great new qualifying system, i love it, and as for the race,
absolutely superb, lots of one on one battles, plenty of overtaking, but a pitty it looks like button is going to finish 4th, no podium this
time.
ATB Chaps
Alex
p.s the V8's in those things sound so sweet!

Yes, watching live in Sydney... great race to start the season. Go Button!
Regarding the sound, give me a 3.9 RV8 any day...

THe V8's sound OK, but too similar to last years V10s. V8's only sound like V8s when they have cross-plane crankshafts. There is some
footage of the 1991 Tooheys 1000 from Bathurst, in-car with Neil Crompton in the Holden Commodore, This was the last year before the 7250rpm limit was
imposed and the sound of that 5.0l Holden V8 winding out to 9000rpm made the hair on the back of my neck stand on end
Bloody good scrap for the first race of the season, long may it continue. I had to laugh when they talked to Nico Rosberg before the start, as he
looks rather like his old chap but missing the customary Marlbobo that Keke was seldom without when out of the car

Great race IMO, Rosberg will give Webber a good run for his dollars this year I reckon. Should be a good season... Malaysia next week.
