wrapping manifolds
going to wrap the manifold pipes and wondered how?Should I butt the turns or overlap them.Also got stainless ties,use these or is there another way to
secure the start and finish

You'll want to soak it first, wire, metal ties, jubilee clips will all be fine.
Just a normal even overlap all the way down and jobs a good-un

Read on our instructions that you are not meant to soak it, just spray water on the wrap to soften it up. Not sure if its different for different
makes.
We used the ties at the head where they look tidy, and stainless lacing wire anywhere else it was needed.

Depends if you want a nice tight fit or not, soaking then fitting will produce and excellent shrink fit.
If you want just pliability and reduced dust emission then a spash and dash is fine 
Don't you just love locostbuilders - clear as mud
Normal is getting dressed in clothes that you buy for work and driving through traffic in a
car that you are still paying for - in order to get to the job you need to pay for the clothes
and the car, and the house you leave vacant all day so you can afford to live in it.

I heard that wraping the manifold make sthe silencer get very hot and melt the side of the car is this true of just lies.

Cast manifolds can crack when wrapped dut to the heat retained by the wrap. SS or MS manifolds are more likely to crack at any welds. Moisture can be
trapped in the wrap which can accelerate corrosion. More dependant on where the car is stored.
Yep the wrap can make the exhaust gasses hotter entering the cat/silencer which agin could shorten the life of them a little. One positive is that the
higher exhaust gas velocity could possibly help with cylinder scavenging.
Personally i would always consider ceramic coating as a first choice but of course the cost is higher.
