X-Flow Piston Rings
Has anyone bought a set of piston rings for an x-flow?
Looks like I'm going to need a new set, £50 from Burtons for a few bits of metal seems a lot... Just wondering if anyone had any better
ideas?
Cheers!
Edit... Oh, and I take it they are difficult to fit? Any tips there appreciated too!

Piston rings are pricey. Burtons are cheaper than ford, I will say that much!

I paid 35 for a set of +90s from my local engine reconditioner last year.
Just bought a set of new old stock pistons with rings for 60 off ebay

Are they standard or oversize rings? I know cord rings are expensive but standard ones aren't that pricey. We bought a set for a 2.0 pinto 3
years ago and they were under £30. I can't remember the exact price as I bought a ring compressor and a honing tool at the same time.
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Give Wilcox Race Engines a ring - often much cheaper than Burton Power

If you get the main man on the phone, however, you may be there a while - he's a mine of information.

I was quoted nearly £100 from ford for a set of std pinto rings a couple of weeks ago.
Thankfully i know someone in the trade and get trade discount through him.

I nearly fell off my seat the other day when my local Fraud garage (Bolton) quoted me £83 for a head gasket!

Try a variety of local motorfactors. Piston rings for my essex v6 varied by a huge amount - over a hundred from ford, 75 from a scimitar specialist,
55 from CAT components in Hastings and 42 incl delivery from FPS!
If at first you don't succeed, hide all evidence you ever tried!
