Zetec Pullys and stuff!

Ive got a version 3 black top 2 litre zetec 1999.

I need some advice on sourcing parts for this engine, ive got a alternater and bracket which needs modifiyingand ive changed the pully to a groved one, oh and a starter motor which rubs the sump and engine- which i think ill be able to rectify!

my question/problem is can people show me there pully configeration! im totally stumped how to make this work!

i need a aux belt not sure where to get one?
do i need a differnt water pump, or is the cooling not a issue with the pump running the wrong way??

here is a pic.....

and you can just see in this pic where i have mounted the alternator..

My car ran a hotter when the pump was going the wrong way, head gasket went then the bottom end all in 1,000miles

I then found out about the pump being different, whoops.

Probably worth doing as the pumps are cheap, you will need a grooved water pump pulley too

If you run the water pump off the back of the belt its the 2.0l pump you need. If you run the water pump off the inside of the belt its the 1.8l pump.

Simple as that

yea right ive got that bit sorted i think, i get what you mean now its plain to see, so its just a case of seeing what will fit, adjusting the alternator bracket to fit snug, then adding a extra pully!

....right now im worring

Krismc, you can see in the bottom two pictures of your second post that the blacktops use an idler over on the nearside and keep the blacktop water pump. Thats because you can't change it for a pump from a silvertop cos they don't fit, escort or otherwise.

zetec pulleys

We just made brackets to relocate the OEM tensioner pulley to the left side of the engine, giving the belt lots of engagement around the water pump pulley. Brackets made out of 3/16" auminium. Works great
