Facet red top pump mounting position.

Does anyone know if it is ok to mount a Facet red top pump above the fuel tank ? I am going to use it to feed my surge tank instead of the old SU i have fitted at present. The SU is mounted in front of the tank on a mounting strap but i would prefer to mount the new pump on the rear bulkhead above my swirl pot.
Paul.

its better mounted lower down as it dosn't have to work as hard lifting the fuel. low pressure can suck better than high pressure pumps can.

heres my setup. low pressure pump is bottom right:

landrovers used to have them fitted on top of the chassis so above the tank, range rovers halfway up the fuel tank (so when half empty above) and I have seen plenty of cars with them fitted on top of inner wings so no real issues with them above the tank.

As they are effectively push/pull type pumps, not vane you do not have the same priming problems as you would with an EFI pump. Put it where its easy to service.

Regards Mark.

Remember and rubber mount it. If you bolt it to the chassis, it resonates through the chassis like a jackhammer.

Bitter experience
