Coil failure

What are the symptoms when your coil/points etc are a bit worn out?

Dawned on me that the xflow used points, and I also remember the coil getting really hot, would this explain any misfiring wierdness?

Cheers

David

Take your pick --- Weak spark, difficult cold starting, reatarded igntion, missfire and if they are closed up enough over heating coil.

If you have a Ford/Fomoco/Autolite dizzie the points gap is 0.023" to 0.027" -- the points gap on on these dizzuies tends to close up radiply over the first few minutes use so gap the contacts at the wide end and put a tiny smear of grease on the cam. Re-check the gap after the first few miles running.
