Zetec and weber

Hello again, I've been wondering around the forums deciding on what chassis to make and which engine to plonk in and I've decided to go with a +442, with a Zetec. Not being an expert mechanic, I'm wondering if anyone has any advice on which Zetec lump to go for (do I need a cat or not), and whether or not anyone knows of a guide / book on removing the injection system and replacing with weber carbs? I want to make sure I know exactly what bits are compatible before I start to empty the contents of my wallet.

Cheers,
Jon

If you want to run carbs you need a motor made before Aug 1995. You wont need a cat either. After this date and you will need injection and a cat to get through an Sva. If its after the sva then thats a differant matter.

As for fitting carbs, take the injection manifold of and bolt the carb manifold on.

If you use a post Aug 1st 1995 Zetec then you will need to run fuel inj and a cat to get past the emissions regs.
You will never do it with carbs.
Pre 95 engines are OK as the emission regs are less strict so you can get away with a couple of webbers. However the engines are not that plentiful and carry a premium. There was one on here for sale last week I think. Link to thread
The other option is the Duratec engine.
There are some good deals to be had at the moment on brand new crated engines.
Again you will need FI and a cat though.
