1800 Pinto Max RPM???

anybody know the max rpm on a 1800 ford pinto with standard carb?? bit scared to rev above 5000 rpm and don't have rev limiter so just wondered what the max rpm is??

I would guess that the standard carb will stop it revving higher than it's limit due to it's relatively small airflow.

You should be safe to 6000 ish but it will be running out of power by then anyway.

I rev my 2.0 to 7000 (7500 in short bursts) and it seems to be holding together. Although I have had the bottom end balanced and lightened which will help.

If you have the engine (and therefore oil) up to temperature and you have good oil pressure you will be safe to rev to 6000. As Mookaloid says you will be after a new gear by that time anyway, there's no point reving the nuts off it for no power increase. You will doubtless hear/feel when the engine has given all it can around the 6000 mark anyway.
