anyone running a 2ltr duratec?

im bout to finally get my mk this week, and am looking into the options of better engines once ive passed the sva test for the winter project. Has anyone on here fitted the above engine? and if so what mods are required? cheers!

Depends what you have currently.

Duratec is a good engine but rather expensive to fit to a RWD gearbox since you need a special bellhousing.

Zetec would be much cheaper and well trodden choice.

IIRC correctly Ford did badge up some Zetecs as Duratec for some models which causes confusion.

I seem to think the ST170 Focus was a zetec with a duratec badge (probs a zetec with variable timing though so not strictly speaking a std zetec).

Speak to Darren at KitCarBuilds (also Duratec power) 01474 707071 they have fitted a few now and can advise on the pro's and cons.
He also knows a friendly local breakers who can get him low mileage Duratecs from only £400.
Went for a ride in a Tiger Cat with one of their 230bhp units in and it made me go like this.......
by the end of the ride i was going like this........

now that whay i like the sound of!

the mk currently has a 2ltr pinto engine in, its a freshly built engine but i know ill want something more 'one' day, so finding out a bit about my options.
