internal splined bit?

Probably a stupid question but whats the name of the interanally splined bit that the gearbox shaft slots into?

If its the nose of the prop then we'd call it the "yoke."

Is that because it drips when the seal goes?

I got the wrong end of the gear box. I meant to say the engine end.

The gearbox input shaft (external splines), carries/slides into the clutch friction plate (internally splined). The shinny nose of this shaft recesses into the spigot bearing on/in the crank shaft.
Hope this helps.

And the bit on the other end that the prop slides on is the output shaft.
