throttle body question
I was wondering how much difference throttle bodies would make to my pinto
it's on webber 45s at the moment so i guess peak power would not really be much different but would it make it more responsive?
Also how much do you think it would cost. I have an emerald ECU already which i would need to upgrade to fuel + ign. Also how much would i get back if
i sold my webbers?
Just thinking about it really.

You "may" get a bit more fuel ecconomy, what you will get is better light throttle response. Have a read of Dave Walkers column in last
months PPC if you can get hold of a copy.
You could expect to get something like £300 for your Webers if in good condition but expect to pay something like that for a set of bike TBs &
manifold.
IIRC it will cost you something like £300 to upgrade your Emerald.

You could always use the 45's as throttle bodies, modify the manifold to take injectors and block the fuel lines for that retro look.

Upgrade of Emerald ECU to injection = £150 plus you may need some more sensors (air and water temp) plus a bit more wiring / pins for the ECU.
Prices are here. And then rolling road.
I like the idea of reusing your Webers although this may be more costly! There is still a strong market for Webers so you shouldn't have any
difficulty in selling them.

Are bike TBs cheeper than say jenvey TBs then.
What is the difference??

yep bike throttle bodies are around £100 a set, including linkages etc, whereas jenveys are £400 plus prob nearly £100 for linkages etc.
You'll need a manifold for either setup, which will cost much the same in either case.
Retro RWD is the way forward...........automotive fabrication, car restoration, sheetmetal work, engine conversion

sorry to hijack this thread and I am embarassed to ask but....I have seen reference to PPC a number of times but I can't remember the full name

I seem to remember that you have Jenvey ones on all your cars.
Where do you get bike carbs from and how do i know which ones to get?

1. dunno about jenveys but bike TB are found on the top spec bikes GSXR, ZZR, R1 etc os I doube very much there is any quality issue - they work
pretty damn well.
2. dunn, most of the people on the forum seem to be using bike TBs.
3. bike breakers - geezer on here who sells engines or ebay (that is where I got mine).
600 cc bikes are good up to 150 bhp. 750 and up can go to typically 250, even 300.
things to be waqre of is that majoriy are twin castings so the spacing will not match you inlets. most popular are GSXR 750 and 1000 due to being
capable of high bhp - more than enuf for ya pointo(?) and separate bodies.
You need to post this in the Fuel injection section - no doubt someone more knowledgeable will add/correct hwat I written.
