ford type 9 and right angled speedo drive

hi all, not got a locust but a highly modded spitfire and could do with some help.clearance with my box is minimal so if i use a normal cable it will bend far too much and break quickly, a right angled drive is 100 quid from burton but i've been told that the transit uses one, anyone know if this is correct and how early do i have to go to find one that is suitable. burton said there's were 4cm long which may ne too long for me anyway i'll have to get the hammer out. thanks.

Why not change it out for an electronic pickup.

could do but they tend to be expensive , if the right angle drive is to long then i'll have to do it.
