Zetec cylinder heads

Hi everyone

Does anyone know if the 1.8 cylinder head and the 2.0 are interchangable?

I've got a 1.8 cylinder head here with quite a bit of work done to it but I want to try to mate it to a 2.0 bottom end... Anyone know if its possible?

Will

Compresion ratios will need to checked as the 2.0 combustion chamber is obviously larger than the 1.8.

Probably put the compression ratio up by 1.5:1 (ie 9:1 would become 10:5:1) approx. would give greater low end torque - slightly smaller valves (maybe depends on the work that was done) and it would be an idea to check valve to piston cleance (assuming the cams were uprated to match the head work.

Definitely check valve to piston clearances & combustion chamber size, if it is a modified head it could have been skimmed to raise the C.R.

Bolts straight on but with different chamber shape. Running the std ecu you'll have problems because it doesn't like the compression hike. Clearance would only be a problem if it has had a serious amount skimmed off.

You could try fitting a stainless "headsaver" shim but you would be better going for a 2.0 head and selling the 1800 unit.

Just my opinion but I have tried it on a road car without success!

obvioulsy? not unless there is a bowl in the pistons - but looking at 2.0 l psitons and the haynes they look like they are flat topped; so sem there will be cr increase.

I believe 1.8 and 2.0 are same valces dia. 1.6 is smaller valves.

also solid lifter heads will not fiit hydaulic type.
