BE Reliant Fox - which engine?

I know this question seems to come up a lot on here, but im just looking for a bit of guidence on what to go for when it comes to bike engines.
Has anyone discovered any good conversion for the relaints (mainly the kitten)
was thinking along the lines of fireblade, but might be a tad over budget?
also i was advised for insurance reasons to go for a smaller engine, anyone any views on this?
I have seen advertised VFR750 engine packs for around £300, are these engines any good, heard they may not be that powerful. sorry for all the Q's, cheers. Jake

Can't answer your Reliant question, but as regards insurance it might be worth phoning up for a few quotes first from the specialists, before deciding to restrict the capacity.

Reason is I'm 33, married, with me and the wife insured fully comp, agreed value, 7500 miles p/a on an MK Indy with a 1100cc ZZR1100 engine = £135 per year.

Thats with sureterm.

Mike

most 4 cyl bike engines will go in but a vfr wont if you intend to prop drive it as you will have to chop both driver and passenger footwells out to getit in and with the fox you cant really move the seats back much to compensate. if you intend to prop drive it then start buying spare axles as it will snap halfshafts with 100hp or more as i found whan prop driving my tl1000 powered kitten. gearing wise you are slightly better off having 12" wheels. have a look at how the z-cars kit works as thats how i have now fitted the tl1000 twin in the back of my kitten van. . im 37 and my van costs £130 qiud per year 5000 miles through adrain flux

cheers guys, have to get some quotes done, as far as reliant axles and props go, we have got loads knocking round, we race stock cars using reliant running gear, this was the reason we bought the fox in the first place, they contain the diff sought out by the racers. shame about the VFR engine, seemed good value, any other good/budget alternatves?
