Stuck roll pin
I was looking at modifying my westfield remote gear change to connect it directly to the selector shaft to remove the play in the gearchange. However
when I was knocking the roll pin out of the gear lever end of the shaft when it stuck half way out and no amount of bashing with a pin punch and lump
hammer is shifting it. Tried drilling it out - no chance, it's too hard. What other options have I got ?

Any idea why it's stuck? Do you have room to get mole grips on the bit that's out?

Can't remember for sure but I think you may need to put it into gear to gain clearance for the roll pin to come out. Possibly 2nd ??? If the
roll pin is touching the casing stopping it from coming out you may have to break it off then continue drifting it through . Roll pins are cheap
enough and probably worth changing when removed.

could you get a bearing puller in? use the screw bit in the middle to push a smaller pin into the hole? Hitting is not as good as pushing when
removing pins.

I know that when you're taking the pin out of the gearbox end you have to first put it into 1st gear, otherwise you don't get a clear shot
at the pin.
It's not come halfway out and jammed against the other side of the housing, has it?

Thanks for the comments. After much trouble I finally removed the pin by drilling it out with a 5mm carbide drill. It took 5 minutes and I wondered
why I hadn't done this in the first place.
