block breathers
can you change the block breather filter on a pinto to the small chrome ones they make. or does it have to be a ford item with the pipe going into it.

go on , let me please........
ok, the crankcase and rocker covers get combustion gases + vaporised oil in there due to the running gear not being 100% gast tight and operating
temp. The idea was to pass them to the carbs to burn them off; reduce crankcase pressure and for lower emissions.
With a catch tank, you no longer plumb them to the carbs but put the tube into a tank where hopefully they condense and collect. An filter stops the
nasties getting to the air.
you need to empty the tank once in a while - bear in mind there will be water in there so the oil is probably not the best to throw back into the
engine.

At the risk of sounding unhelpful its probs worth doing a search. There have been quite a lot of threads about catch tanks in general and Pinto
breathing issues recently. They are well worth a read and then link to them with further queries.
