zetec cranks

hi all
well I've just stripped down the crank on my zetec (blacktop) and the shell are fucked on one!
ok now i know these cranks can only ground 10thou
so it mean a new crank !

but i also have a 1800cc blacktop which i know is good,
are the crank interchangeable?
some one said they are and its only the piston bore size that is different

does anybody know ?

cheers paul

If one journal has foopahed shells, then I would not hesitate to fit new engine. The grounds for this is that, you will have a LOT of metal particulates circulating in the oil galleries and there will be some deposits left loitering in these galleries, unless you strip block and remove ALL the oilway sealing plugs and power wash the gallleries. If you just change the crank then you WILL have a crank failure waiting to happen.
