About to fit the gearbox (lt77) to my RV8

does the input shaft need any grease on the end that goes into the spigot bearing.

Thanks

Paul

ps -wish me luck as I am going to trial fit the engine tomorrow.

I would put a very small amount of high melting point grease,if you have needleroller type spigot bearing you should see that it has a small grease seal to stop any grease travelling back along the input shaft and being thrown up on to clutch.

AFAIK you don't need any grease on it.

ther rover rebuild manual (http://www.spagweb.com/v8mini/tech_files/v8_overhaul_manual.pdf) doesn't mention it either.

Then I suggest you throw your Rover rebuild manual away

AFAIK phosphor bronze bearings require lubrication, but sintered bronze bearings are porous and are already saturated in oil when fitted.

Used to be normal practise to store phospher bronze bushs in oil so that they were pre lubricated ready for use
