Zetec Sumps

Does anyone know if the split sump from a blacktop Zetec will fit onto an earlier phase2 silvertop.
I like the idea of the alloy casting with the steel base pan as it looks easier to modify but just need to know if it fits before spending the cash.

No it doesn't. The silvertop main bearing caps are much taller than the blacktop ones and foul on the oil scraper plate cast into the alu part of the blacktop sump. I guess you could cut and grind the plate out and fabricate one to sit lower in the sump but I decided it was easier to go highcost with a raceline sump. Cut and weld the escort/orion sump or even do the minor mods to get an 1800cvh sump to fit would be cheaper options.

Thanks Dusty.

I have a CVH sump on its way but just like the look of the two piece item.

Hmmm this is a bit of a worry... I have an st170 engine and have fitted a Pace dry sump to it. It would suggest then that the crank scrapers in the new sump will be not working! Oh Dear!
