new engine - do I have to tell the DVLA?
I've fitted a new engine of the same type to my car. Do I have to tell the DVLA?

Probably do for legal reasons but definitely do too keep log book up too date, put new engine number in log book, post it all sorted for the cost of a
stamp.
Thinking about it if you dont could prob run into problems at MOT time as all cars & details are on a data base,

Engine number,yes. I was thinking more the the engine CC, which of course is the same. Thanks guys.

Mabye put a letter in telling them why you are sending the log book for alteration, with minor changes such as this that they arnt used to seeing the
logbook can come back unchanged.
The DVLA recently sent us a letter wanting to know why we had'nt got one of our vehicles MOT'd. We sold it 12 years ago & it was a
tractor! Doesnt excactly fill you with confidence does it?

just tell em the change of engine number
believe me when my dads car got stolen they did everything they could to.
1 get out of the claim by trying on loads of petty shite
2. they try and make it like its your fault
theyd probably use your different engine number against you

If it's the same engine cc's and the old one is scrap (and always will be) then grind the number off of the new one and restamp it with
the old one. Or as said above just get the documents changed.
If it looks wrong it probably is wrong.
