RS2000 Engine

Does anyone know if the RS2000 out of a MK5 Escort is a SilverTop Zetec or is it a different engine.

It looks like the top cover is different but I am not sure if this is just cosmetic.
Thanks,

Steve

rs2000

the engine was called the I4, i believe it was a 16v version of the old dohc 8v engine, the wife had a mk5 rs,,put a k&n,magnex with cat bypass pipe on it, went very well very torquey motor.(but not as quick as my 350bhp escort cossie we had at the same time !!)

Also , if i remember...if you take off the exhaust gas recirculation kit it gives an extra 15 bhp ! (by the way if i had driven a locost/seven etc i would have never got the escossie !)

very very different engines! the I4 is chain driven for a start, it just goes on from there really! i believe the I4 is also heavier than the zetec?

built a car, built a home, had a family. lost the family, lost the home, still got the car.
