r1 carbs / gasket for zetec
Hi guys,
just attaching a set of r1 bike carbs, supplied by bogg brothers on a manifold
to a 2 litre zetec silvertop.
seem to have a problem with the gaskets,
the gasket set I bought has two with a fairly complex pattern in them
also behind the old plastic manifold there is also an aluminium ford gasket also with a pattern of channels in it- totally confused!!! how anyone else
attach their sets of bike carbs?

I will be coming up against this one soon. I guess the easiest answer is to get some gasket paper and a ballpein hammer and make your own.
Summer's here!!!!

hi, you may be right- im guessing the pattern of channels is to equalize / balance the vacum through each inlet port?

The odd pattern of channels is connected to the block breather on the zetec and presumably allows enough negative pressure to suck fumes from the
block without simulating an air leak in the manifold face and feed them into the inlets in a balanced way.

Les, i have used that gasket on my zetec with bike carbs.
My car ran sweetly to start with for a couple of weeks, but now seems to to not want to rev, im not saying that its the gasket but i was thinking of
changing it to see if it is.
I was waiting to get on the rollers this winter for a tune up.
